WHAT WE TREAT

If you are suffering from an anxiety disorder you are not alone. In fact, as a group, anxiety disorders are the most common type of mental health concern. Nearly 1 in 5 American adults experience anxiety symptoms are severe enough to significantly decrease their functioning and/or quality of life.

The Anxiety Center has the largest concentration of specialists in obsessive-compulsive and related disorders in the Pacific Northwest. As a result, our treatment team has extensive experience in treating these problems, including working with individuals with very severe symptoms who may need a more intensive treatment approach.

For some individuals, exposure to traumatic or stressful life events leads to problems with anxiety and other distressing emotions (i.e., sadness, grief, loss, disgust) and symptoms (i.e., intrusive thoughts and memories about the trauma, physical and emotional reactivity to trauma-related cues, avoidance of situations that are related to the trauma). Although the majority of people who are exposed to traumatic events recover over time and do not develop ongoing problems, many do and benefit significantly from appropriate treatment.

Many individuals with anxiety-related problems also experience depression and problems related to sleep. Our providers are trained in the most up-to-date treatment approaches for these problems.
