BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Kim is a postdoctoral fellow in the Anxiety Center at EBTCS.

Dr. Kim provides evidence-based treatment for a range of psychological concerns, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, specific phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and major depressive disorder (MDD). Interpersonally, Dr. Kim aims to facilitate psychotherapy by collaborating with his clients, treating them with compassion, and highlighting their individuality and strengths.

Dr. Kim has significant training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for anxiety and mood disorders, employing strategies like values-based behavioral activation, mindfulness, and cognitive restructuring or thought reappraisal. He also has led skills groups for dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and provided exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD, as well as prolonged exposure (PE) and cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for PTSD.

Dr. Kim earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Georgia State University, completing his internship at Harborview Medical Center with the University of Washington. Additionally, as part of his clinical training, Dr. Kim has worked at his departmental clinic, a treatment center for autism spectrum disorder, a pediatric hospital, and an intensive outpatient program for OCD.

Dr. Kim’s doctoral research focused on the promoting the health of underserved and underrepresented populations considering social processing variables. Most recently, he examined how cultural socialization and stigma affect the intentions of Asian college students to engage in professional mental healthcare.
