Dr. Marks is a clinical psychologist in the Anxiety Center at EBTCS. She has extensive experience treating individuals suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other co-morbid conditions following traumatic experiences. She is devoted to reducing the impairment and distress that can occur with a wide range of anxiety and related disorders, including PTSD, OCD, panic disorder, GAD, phobias, social anxiety disorder, and body focused repetitive behaviors (hair pulling, skin picking) through the delivery of short-term, evidence-based psychotherapies.
Dr. Marks completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at Middlebury College in Vermont. After college, she worked as a research assistant at the Center for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital, working on clinical trials examining treatments for social anxiety disorder, complicated grief, panic disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. She went on to pursue her doctoral training in clinical psychology at the University of Washington. Dr. Marks’s doctoral research focused primarily on intrusive memories and how we may be able to improve exposure-based interventions that target these memories by capitalizing on memory reconsolidation processes.
During her graduate training at the University of Washington, Dr. Marks received extensive training in Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety and mood problems, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She completed her predoctoral clinical internship through the adult track at the University of Washington School of Medicine, where she trained in inpatient, outpatient, and consultation/liaison settings. Dr. Marks completed a postdoctoral fellowship in anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders disorders at EBTCS.
Dr. Marks is a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS), and Anxiety and Depression Association of American (ADAA). She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Washington.
