Dr. Mangen is a staff psychologist in the Anxiety Center at EBTCS. She specializes in providing evidence-based therapy to patients with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive related disorders. In particular, she has extensive experience applying cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and related interventions including exposure and response prevention (ERP), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), habit reversal therapy (HRT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to the treatment of these disorders. She is also experienced in trauma-focused treatment, including prolonged exposure (PE), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and written exposure therapy (WET).
Dr. Mangen takes a collaborative approach to therapy, meeting her patients at their own pace and readiness level. She strives to take into account the variety of personal and environmental factors that influence a person’s experiences and works to create a treatment plan tailored to her patient’s individual needs. Dr. Mangen is committed to pursuing justice and equity in psychological treatment and to continual personal growth in cultural responsiveness.
Dr. Mangen is passionate about the intersection of psychological treatment with psychological research. In addition to providing therapy, she is involved in a number of research projects aimed at improving our understanding of the development, maintenance, and treatment of anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, and other disorders. She is committed to ensuring that her patients’ care is influenced by the most up-to-date research in the field.
Dr. Mangen completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. She then completed her master’s and doctoral degrees at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, where she received specialized training in researching and treating anxiety and obsessive-compulsive related disorders across a variety of treatment settings. She also completed a predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship in the OCD and Related Disorders Program at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
Dr. Mangen is a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas and is authorized to provide treatment to patients in other states under the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT). She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), and the International Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Foundation (IOCDF).
