DBT CenterBIOGRAPHY
Dr. Irmary Rodríguez Rivera is a Staff Psychologist in the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Center at EBTCS. They are a queer, Puertorican and bilingual clinician. She strives to provide evidence-based treatment and increase accessibility of DBT to communities, such as LGBTQIA+, Spanish speaking, non-monogamous, and BIPOC populations. Irmary has significant experience treating mood, personality, trauma, substance use, eating, suicidality, self-harm related behaviors and disorders. They have provided DBT in a wide range of settings, including outpatient, IOP, residential, and inpatient hospitalization.
Dr. Rodríguez Rivera received their doctorate in clinical psychology from Albizu University San Juan Campus, at Puerto Rico. They completed their post-doctoral training at the Chicago DBT Institute and are also DBT-Certified Clinician by the Linehan Board of Certification.
Dr. Rodríguez Rivera participates in the larger DBT community by collaborating in DBT BIPOC anti-racism meetings, research efforts such as World DBT Association research committee, and is developing a Spanish language program for DBT groups. They are also part of the training team at Portland DBT Institute. Irmary has offered consultation and training to providers and practicum students regarding their professional growth, research, and DBT interventions.
Irmary uses humor, radical genuineness and direct communication while balancing humility, compassion, and collaboration in her interventions to support patients in their life worth living journey. Outside of work, Irmary enjoys anime, crocheting, hiking, baking, camping and mastering new skills.
Dr. Rodríguez Rivera is a licensed psychologist in the states of Washington and Illinois.
