Jasper Berg, PhD

Jasper Berg is a Co-Director of the DBT Center at EBTCS, and has been a Linehan-Board Certified DBT clinician since 2022. They are also a trainer for Behavioral Tech, as well as a clinical faculty member providing supervision to graduate students at the University of Washington.

Dr. Berg is a licensed psychologist with advanced training and specialization in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to adolescents, families, and adults for the treatment of emotion dysregulation, self-harm, and suicidality. In addition, they have considerable training and experience in the treatment of mood disorders, substance use, and trauma.

Dr. Berg completed their graduate studies in clinical psychology at Emory University, focusing on the role of impulsivity in behavioral, emotional, and interpersonal difficulties. This is also when they began studying and practicing DBT.

They completed their pre-doctoral psychology internship at Yale University, providing DBT to adults with co-occurring mood disorders and substance use in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) hospital setting. They subsequently completed their postdoctoral fellowship at the Center of Excellence in Substance Abuse Treatment and Education (CESATE) at the VA Puget Sound Healthcare System in Seattle. After the completion of their fellowship, they joined the DBT team at EBTCS as a clinical psychologist.

In addition to DBT, Dr. Berg has extensive training in evidence-based treatments including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavioral Activation (BA), DBT for Substance Use (DBT-S), and Prolonged Exposure (PE). They enjoy working with adolescents and adults who struggle with emotion dysregulation and impulsive behaviors, and they are particularly interested in providing compassionate, affirmative mental health care to the LGBTQ+ community.

Dr. Berg is licensed in the state of Washington and is a member of PSYPACT with authority to practice interjurisdictional telepsychology (APIT).
