Eating Disorders Center

Eating Disorder Experts. Evidence-Based Care.

Eating Disorders Center at EBTCS

We provide evidenced-based treatment for eating disorders across the lifespan, with care tailored to each individual’s unique needs. Our team of doctoral-level psychologists bring advanced training and expertise to deliver compassionate, research-driven care.
Treatment focuses on nutrition restoration and addressing the behavioral patterns and emotional distress that maintain eating disorders. We work collaboratively with individuals and families and approach care from a weight-inclusive perspective, recognizing that recovery looks different for every body.
Expert care is accessible both in person and online.

Multidiagnostic Eating Disorders – Dialectical Behavior Therapy

MED-DBT integrates full-model Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – including individual therapy, skills training, phone coaching, and consultation team – with targeted interventions for disordered eating, body image concerns, and medical instability.
This approach is particularly effective when disordered behaviors function as a way to manage overwhelming emotions. It is especially well-suited for complex presentations, or eating disorders with co-occurring mental health conditions, high-risk behaviors, and emotion regulation difficulties. In addition to focusing on reducing eating disorder behaviors, MED-DBT provides a comprehensive skill-based framework–emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness–supporting the development of effective coping strategies for lasting recovery.

Family-Based Treatment (FBT)

FBT is the recommended treatment for children and adolescents with eating disorders.
This approach involves empowering caregivers to actively support nutritional restoration and recovery. Treatment is tailored to each family’s structure, culture, and needs.

Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-E)

CBT-E is a transdiagnostic, evidence-based treatment for disordered eating behaviors characterized by concerns related to weight and body shape.
This structured approach focuses on normalizing eating patterns, addressing unhelpful thoughts about appearance, and targeting associated factors like perfectionism, low self-esteem, and interpersonal difficulties.

Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for ARFID (CBT-AR)

CBT-AR is a specialized, evidence-based treatment designed specifically for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).
Treatment is exposure-based and targets sensory sensitivities, fear-based food avoidance, and/or picky eating, while supporting nutritional adequacy and increased flexibility around eating.

Non-Diet Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)

We offer Medical Nutrition Therapy through a weight-inclusive, non-diet approach—supporting clients in managing nutrition-related health concerns while protecting a healthy relationship with food.
We integrate evidence-based care with Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size® principles to help clients navigate medical needs while actively preventing or healing from disordered eating patterns.

Areas of support include:

  • Cholesterol and heart health
  • Pre-diabetes and
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Gut health or digestive conditions
  • Sports nutrition
  • General “healthy eating” (through a non-diet lens)

Telehealth: Expert eating disorder care, available across PSYPACT states

We provide secure, evidence-based telehealth services for patients across Washington State and all PSYPACT states.
PSYPACT (the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact) allows licensed psychologists with advanced credentials to provide care across participating states. This means patients and families can access the same specialized, doctoral-level eating disorder care offered at our center — even if they live outside our immediate geographic area.
The same care. The same clinicians. The same standards.
Telehealth at the Eating Disorders Center is not a simplified or reduced version of treatment. It is the same evidence-based care, delivered by the same expert clinicians, using the same structured treatment approaches.
Through telehealth, we provide:
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for eating disorders and related concerns
  • Exposure-based approaches for food, body image, and co-occurring anxiety and OCD
  • Family-Based Treatment (FBT) and Behavioral Parent Training
  • Treatment for sleep difficulties, including CBT-I and behavioral sleep interventions
  • Care for body image concerns and related challenges
All sessions are conducted through secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms and are designed to be engaging, structured, and clinically appropriate.

When telehealth is a strong option

Telehealth can be especially helpful for:
  • Patients and families living outside major metropolitan areas
  • Patients whose symptoms make traveling difficult
  • Patients balancing work, school, and family demands
  • Patients who engage more comfortably from their home environment

Research shows that telehealth-delivered CBT and family-based treatments are as effective as in-person care for eating disorders when delivered by trained specialists — making telehealth a powerful and flexible option for many patients.

Thoughtful recommendations, not one-size-fits-all

While telehealth works well for many patients, it is not always the right fit for every situation. Eating disorder care often requires ongoing medical monitoring, and telehealth is most appropriate for patients who are medically stable. As part of our intake process, we help patients and families determine whether telehealth, in-person care, or a combination of both is most appropriate based on clinical needs, medical status, and treatment goals.

Our priority is not convenience alone — it’s effectiveness.

Telehealth availability

We currently offer telehealth services to patients and families located in:
  • Washington State
  • All PSYPACT-participating states
If you’re unsure whether your state is covered, our intake team is happy to help.
