Dr. Claire Metzner is a Staff Psychologist in the Child Anxiety Center at EBTCS.
Dr. Metzner has advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapy with exposure and response prevention, behavioral therapy and parent training, trauma-specific treatments, and family- and relational- based interventions. She is experienced in working with youth and families with complex developmental, medical, and psychological needs and strongly values partnering with caregivers to improve outcomes for the entire family system.
Dr. Metzner specializes in providing evidence-based interventions for the treatment of mood and behavioral issues and has a special interest in treating youth with anxiety and co-occurring disorders. In addition to anxiety, Dr. Metzner has extensive experience in assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Dr. Metzner received her PsyD in clinical psychology from Pacific University School of Graduate Psychology where she was a member of the child and adolescent specialty track and Latinx emphasis program. Dr. Metzner completed her predoctoral internship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles – University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine within the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). She also completed her postdoctoral fellowship with the Child Anxiety Center at EBTCS.
Throughout her training, Dr. Metzner engaged in clinical activities across a variety of settings (e.g., inpatient and outpatient hospitals, schools, in the community) and developed expertise and a passion for working with children, adolescents, and caregivers. Dr. Metzner’s diverse clinical experiences facilitate her ability to tailor evidence-based interventions to unique and complex client factors. Dr. Metzner’s doctoral research focused on exploring early childhood developmental needs and salient social and cultural factors involved in child rearing practices. Dr. Metzner is bilingual in Spanish and enjoys engaging in outreach activities to bring clinical services and increased mental health awareness to Latinx communities.
Dr. Metzner is a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) and the American Psychological Association (APA). She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Washington and is also a member of PSYPACT with authority to practice interjurisdictional telepsychology (APIT).
