BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Aimee Coonerty-Femiano is a Staff Psychologist who works with children, adolescents and their families on the Child Anxiety Team at EBTCS.

Dr. Coonerty-Femiano has over two decades of clinical experience, specializing in adolescents, transitions to adulthood and masculinity. Dr. Coonerty-Femiano has worked with a broad range of adolescent psychiatric, developmental and behavioral conditions including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and ADHD. She has also provided therapeutic support to families in a wide range of settings including universities, public and private schools, community mental health clinics and independent clinical settings.

Dr. Coonerty-Femiano received her MA and PhD in counseling psychology from Boston College. Her doctoral research examined the impact of gender on emotional expression in adolescent boys.  She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire where she honed her skills working with adolescents and families, conducting individual and family therapy and facilitating parenting groups. Dr. Coonerty-Femiano also has advanced training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and has facilitated DBT multi-skills for parents and adolescents in the Seattle area since 2012.  In addition to DBT, she has post-doctoral training in grief therapy, evidence-based traumatic stress treatment and suicide prevention.  Prior to joining EBTCS, she was a staff psychologist at Seattle University’s Counseling and Psychological Services.

Dr. Coonerty-Femiano is a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Washington State Psychological Association (WSPA). Dr. Coonerty-Femiano is a licensed psychologist in the state of Washington.
