BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Braunstein works with children and adolescents in the Child Anxiety Center, DBT Center, and Eating Disorders Center. She is also the Co-Medical Director of EBTCS.

Dr. Kjersti Braunstein is a lifelong Washington State resident. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Washington where she also went on to complete residency training in psychiatry. Dr. Braunstein served as Chief Resident for Recruitment in her final year of residency training. She then went on to the University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Hospital Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Training Program for further subspecialty training. During both her general and child training experiences, Dr. Braunstein gained supervised experience working with therapists and teams providing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) interventions to both teens and adults. She strives to provide caring and genuine evidence-based care and medication management that is well informed with regard to the both the benefits and the very real limits of medication treatments. Working closely with therapists helps her recognize the personal, psychological, and social factors that influence each person’s symptoms beyond a diagnosis.

Dr. Braunstein is board certified in adult, adolescent and child psychiatry. Dr. Braunstein’s clinical interests include the treatment of depressive, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. In her practice at EBTCS, Dr. Braunstein focuses on providing medication management to current children and teens already receiving therapy services at EBTCS. In limited cases, Dr. Braunstein also enjoys providing therapy informed by cognitive-behavioral techniques to children, teens, and adults.
