Postdoctoral Fellow

Eating Disorders Center


Dr. Cowan is a postdoctoral fellow at the Eating Disorder Center at EBTCS. She comes to EBTCS with training and experience in outpatient and inpatient eating disorder treatment for children, adolescents, and adults.

Dr. Cowan completed her bachelor’s degree in applied psychology with an emphasis in child and adolescent psychology from Seattle City University. She earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from Antioch University Seattle with dissertation research on the relationships between stigma and coercion and compulsion in eating disorder treatment.

During graduate training she completed pre-internships at the University of Washington and Swedish Medical Group before pre-doctoral internship at Arizona State University’s oupatient counseling and primary care behavioral health clinics. Collectively, Dr. Cowan’s graduate experiences afforded her with extensive training in collaborative, evidence-based treatments for a variety of psychological concerns including attention-deficit/hyperactivity, traumatic-stress, anxiety, and mood disorders.

Dr. Cowan is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED). She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Washington.
