DBT CenterBIOGRAPHY
Dr. Gu works with adolescents, adults, and provides parent training for families in the DBT Center at EBTCS. Dr. Gu has expertise in evidence based interventions treating a variety of problems including emotion dysregulation, suicidality, self-harm, mood, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma, and anxiety disorders. Providing gender affirming care and holding an actively anti-racist lens are important values that are incorporated as part of Dr. Gu’s work.
Dr. Gu is a staff psychologist in the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Center at EBTCS. Dr. Gu completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Irvine and her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Suffolk University under the mentorship of Dr. Susan Orsillo. Her doctoral research examined learning gains at a continuing education training in Acceptance Based Behavioral Therapy for licensed therapists. Dr. Gu completed her predoctoral clinical internship at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center/ Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/ Harvard Medical School.
Her clinical passions include working collaboratively with individuals to cultivate more acceptance, self-compassion, and skills use to navigate life experiences so that her clients can move towards their life worth living.
Dr. Gu is board certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) and a certified clinician by the DBT Linehan Board of Certification. Dr. Gu is a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT). Dr. Gu is also a member of PSYPACT with authority to practice interjurisdictional telepsychology (APIT)
