BIOGRAPHY

Alisa Pisciotta works with adults in the DBT Center.

Ms. Pisciotta is a licensed independent clinical social worker at EBTCS in the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Center. Prior to her graduate studies, she worked as a research assistant in Dr. Marsha Linehan’s research lab, observing and coding DBT skills groups, team consultation, and individual sessions with clients with borderline personality disorder and opiate addiction. Ms. Pisciotta also worked as a research assistant and project coordinator at the VA Puget Sound Healthcare System in Seattle, conducting extensive psychological evaluations with veterans with PTSD. Her experiences at Dr. Linehan’s lab and at the VA Puget Sound Healthcare System sparked a devotion to providing nonjudgmental, evidence-based treatment to individuals with emotion dysregulation, substance use difficulties, and a history of trauma.

Ms. Pisciotta earned her Master of Social Work degree with an emphasis in mental-health direct practice from the University of Washington. She completed her advanced practicum at Washington State’s Monroe Correctional Complex, providing mental healthcare, including DBT skills, to male offenders on the mental-health and maximum-security units.

Ms. Pisciotta has most recently worked as a DBT therapist on the DBT team at Group Health/Kaiser Permanente Northwest. While there, she completed the DBT intensive training facilitated by Drs. Jennifer Sayrs and Elizabeth Dexter-Mazza, as well as the DBT Prolonged Exposure Protocol for PTSD intensive training facilitated by Drs. Melanie Harned and Elizabeth Dexter-Mazza. She also attended the Introduction to Radically Open-DBT (RO-DBT) workshop presented by the developer of this treatment for disorders of overcontrol, Dr. Thomas Lynch, Ph.D.

Ms. Pisciotta is licensed in the state of Washington and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, mental-health specialty practice section. Ms. Pisciotta is a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician.
