The research supporting evidence-based treatments for eating and weight disorders is growing quickly and there is evidence to support the use of specific treatments for different eating problems. These treatments include cognitive behavioral therapy, family-based treatment (i.e., Maudsley approach), interpersonal psychotherapy, dialectical behavioral skills, adolescent-focused therapy, and supportive clinical management. In creating a personalized treatment plan, other approaches may be incorporated, such as mindfulness skills, appetite awareness, and motivational enhancement.
